Academic Freedom

Our Campus Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure is a resource for all members of both AAUP-UNH and UNH Lectures United - AAUP (UNHLU).

We discuss and advocate for shared concerns around academic freedom and tenure as articulated by the AAUP. And we are here to support faculty who, in the exercise of that academic freedom, find themselves intimidated or under attack by administration, members of the public, and/or their own students. We can help mobilize support for faculty under attack; press administration to adopt transparent principles and policies for protecting threatened faculty, as well as for representing faculty against media and social media attacks; and investigate any departures from AAUP-defined standards for academic freedom, helping affected faculty members bring formal complaints and grievances to the appropriate union chapter where necessary.

Committee A Members
